As of Monday, Arkansas health officials have fully immunized more than 460,000 individuals, just over 15% of the state’s population, against COVID-19, according to the Arkansas Department of Health.
In addition to the 464,607 fully vaccinated individuals in Arkansas, a further 357,523 people had received their first dose by Monday, according to the ADH.
Since March 29, state health officials have administered 155,467 new vaccine doses, for a cumulative total of 1,251,601, according to the Arkansas Department of Health. About 69% of the 1,823,880 vaccine doses received by or allocated to Arkansas health officials had been distributed by Monday.
Statewide, total active cases (confirmed and probable) fell to 1,607 Monday, down by 125 in a day and 166 in a week, according to the ADH. Hospitalizations stayed steady at 145, a decrease of 19 in a week. Statewide, 23 patients were on ventilators Monday, a decrease of one in a day and five in a week.
Total cumulative cases increased by 1,090 between March 29 and Monday, for a total of 331,098, according to the ADH. Cases rose by 44 between Sunday and Monday.
The ADH reported five new deaths from confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 Monday. This brings the total death toll in Arkansas to 5,648, up 47 in a week.
Washington County reported 151 total active cases (confirmed and probable), and 30,271 total cumulative cases Monday. Benton County reported 198 total active cases and 28,237 total cumulative cases.
Total active cases decreased by 19 in a day and 11 in a week in Washington County. In Benton County, active cases fell by 14 in a day but only one in a week. Total cumulative cases in the two counties increased by 120 and 152 in a week, respectively.
The number of confirmed active cases on the UA campus rose to eight Monday from five Friday, according to the UA COVID-19 Dashboard.
Seven of the active cases are students, while one is a staff member, according to the dashboard. The dashboard lists six new cases identified and three new recoveries in the reporting period of Friday-Sunday, while the data sheet attached to the site lists five new cases identified. It is unclear which number is correct. At least one of the new cases was identified through on-campus testing and at least four were self reported, according to the data sheet.
Of the 37,438 tests performed on campus since Aug. 10, 1,384 have been positive, for a cumulative positivity rate of 3.7%.
